This year my dad and I have been watching the World Cup qualifiers together on T.V. We are rooting for Colombia because my parents are from Colombia. This year Colombia has a good chance at qualifying. There are two more games and if they win they qualify for the World Cup in Brazil in 2014. My dad said that if they qualify we can go to Brazil! That will be exciting. Do you follow the World Cup at all? If so, which team do you support?

I stumbled upon this great little idea from Miss B's class blog. It's International Book Week, and to celebrate, here's a fun little activity: Pick up the book that is closest to you. Turn to page 52. Scroll down to the 5th complete sentence. Copy that sentence as a comment to this post. Be sure not to give away the title of the book or comment on the sentence in any way. Just post the sentence and nothing else. This should be fun! Thanks Miss B's class for the fun idea! Do you want to know what I don’t like about math? The big text book. It’s heavy and awkward to carry. So today we were told of a good website called Mathletics. When you want math to be fun go to www.mathletics.ca. On mathletics you can make an avatar and learn facts fast. You get to play against people around the world, and you can also play against people at school. It ranks you so that it can tell you if you’re in the top 100 in Canada or top 100 in the world. It’s a neat website and you actually learn while you're having fun. p.s. If your parents told you that you can’t learn by playing video games, send them to the website. So what do you think about Mathletics? Carmine. Hi, this is Nicole and today I want to talk about sports. But before I do that, I want to wish Jacob C. a happy birthday today!
So now I can talk about sports. The sports I play are hockey, soccer, and this year I might play baseball. What sports do you play? This week-end I am in a hockey tournament. Today I play 2 games, and then tomorrow I will play 2 more games. I am hoping that I win all 4 games. For hockey I play for a competitive team. I love playing sports like football, baseball, and sometimes golf. Sports are fun and they help you to be active in your life. If you don't play a sport and you just sit on the computer all-day long then you are not being that active. It's okay to like video games, but it's important to be active during the day too. What sports do you like? By the way, I'm also going to 2 parties this weekend, but they are family parties. What are you doing this week-end? Avast, thar guys did ye be knowin' that this day was international speak like a scurvy pirate day? People all across th' seven seas were shoutin' like band 'o pirates this day. If ye want to be knowin' how to speak like a scurvy pirate then be off to Post like a Pirate it gunna teach ye all ye need to be knowin'.
That be what I be usin' right now. Who would have known this day was international speak like a scurvy pirate day if ye wern't readin' me blog right now! 'tis be captin RACHAEL signin' off. Shoutin' have a g'nightfall to ye all! Hey everyone it's Ben! Today we had our mini cross country meet. In the races there were about 77 kids per race. Everyone did great! I came 25 out of 77, which is pretty good for me. I'm proud of myself. I want to congratulate everyone for doing their best. Congrats to Jacob for coming 2nd, that’s great! But like I said, everyone did great. Today, we also had the meet the teacher barbeque. There were some amazing hamburgers and hotdogs. The parents got to meet the teacher and see our classroom. I hope at the barbeque everyone had a good report and has a great year. How do you think the cross country meet went today? Did you enjoy the barbeque?
Today was picture day! And everyone was dressed up. Today was hot so everyone mostly had shorts and a T-shirt. Today we also had a type of quiz in math class (which was going to be marked). We had to choose between how long it would take for our eyes to blink or our hearts pump 1 000 000 times! We only had 30 min to finish our quiz. The good thing was right when we were about to start our quiz, we were suddenly called to have our pictures taken! After we took our class picture, which I thought was very fun, we finished our quiz. Do you like picture day? Why or why not? Tomorrow we are going to have our cross country practice. I’m in the girls 9 year old section. Last time in the practice I came in number 14. What did you come in last time? I hope I get a better place this time. Just thinking … maybe you will come in a better place too! Hey guys! Today I didn’t feel good and we learned about the eight genres in language class. We got to pick a poster and explain it to the class what that genre was about. My groups poster was fantasy. Fantasy is all about getting a break from reality and getting to explore different worlds. The eight genres are fantasy, mystery, historical fiction, realistic fiction, science fiction, informational text and folk literature. The one I like most is folk literature because it’s got imagination, myths, and characters that you can relate to most of the time, except for when they are fighting evil. You don’t know if the story is exactly true or not because it’s very realistic and has some true facts most of the time but it also has some fake things in the story. I just find it really interesting and my two favourite book series in this genre would be The Hunger Games and The Kane Chronicles. What is your favourite genre and why? What is your favourite book or books that you’ve read in that genre? Here is a picture of my favourite character from The Hunger Games, her name is Katniss Everdeen.
Hope you enjoyed my blog. Rachael I am very excited for cross country this year! I want to beat what I got last year which was 95th place. Last year was my first cross country run. I wasn't sure what cross country was until I actually did it. I thought it would be really hard and boring but it wasn't. It was actually pretty fun! I enjoyed it very much. Cross country is one of the things I am really looking forward to this year. How about you, are you looking forward to cross country? What are you looking forward to this year? If you would have to change something from cross country what would it be? Do you enjoy cross country? Today we had our Terry Fox run. It was great weather for it because it wasn’t too hot and there was a nice breeze to keep you cool. I am so glad that the run wasn’t on Tuesday because it was so hot! I think that we should continue the run every year because it is a great way to raise money for cancer research so that we can hopefully find a cure to cancer one day. Why do you think we should continue the run every year? I ran for my grandpa and I ran 7 laps. Who did you run for and how many laps did you do? See you on Monday, Hannah p.s. Check out a picture of our class getting ready for the run in the Gallery! |
