Oh! I almost forgot. Harry also gets sorted. Getting sorted is when a magical speaking hat (sounds kind of weird I know) decides which house you should be in based on your personality. Your house decides who you hang out with and who your enemies are. There's Gryffindors, who are brave, Ravenclaws who are smart, Hufflepuffs who are loyal, and Slytherins who are cunning (Harry is a Gryffindor) I'm a Hufflepuff! Which house would you be in?
Okay so obviously I'm doing my post on HARRY POTTER! Harry Potter is about a young boy who lives with his unfair aunt and uncle (Petunia and Vernon Dursley) and then goes to a magical school where he meets his best friends Herimoine and Ron, his enemy Draco Malfoy and the headmaster Dumbledore. He also hears about Lord Voldemort and his parents Lily and James Potter. It's a really good series and if you have time you should really read it.

Do you know what a "pittance" is? A pittance refers to something very small, or insignificant. Terry Kelly, a musician from Nova Scotia wrote a song called "A Pittance of Time" in response to his outrage over some shoppers who would not stop even for 2 minutes of silence on Remembrance Day back in 1999. His video shows us how a simple act of stopping for 2 minutes to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers who fought for peace and freedom can be so meaningful. 2 minutes is really just a "pittance" of time, but it means so much! This November 11, let us all take a moment to remember the huge sacrifice so many people gave in order to secure the freedom and peace our country enjoys today. Canada truly is the land of the free and it is thanks to our veterans and all of their fallen comrades! Click HERE to learn more behind Terry Kelly's song. In the meantime, enjoy the video below. Small living environments are called habitats. However, when we widen our view and look at larger environments on a global scale, we are talking about biomes. We had the chance to work in small groups to become experts about one particular biome. We built models of our biomes, and then had a chance to teach other classmates about what we learned.
Click on the title of this post or the "read more" link to see our progress, and then to read our fact sheets about the biomes we studied. At recess Mason, Khoa Vihn, Matthew, Noah, Spencer, Arshak and I play baseball! My favourite positions in baseball are batter and pitcher. I like batting because I like to whap the ball! I’m trying to get a home run but so far I haven’t got one. But by the end of the year I’m going to get one! I like pitcher too because I like striking people out and learning new pitches! Sometimes I’m great at pitching and strike them out, but other times I suck and do 50 balls! Matthew likes pitching too so we take turns. When I’m not pitcher, I play short stop. That’s the position I would play if I could not be pitcher. What I also like to do is run the bases… IT’S FUN!! My favourite baseball team is the Toronto Blue Jays and my favourite player is Kevin Pillar who is a good batter and great at catching! It’s fun playing baseball at recess with my friends! Baseball is one of my favourite sports!! And now for a question: What is your favourite sport and why? My pet shark was a great pet because every time I fed the fish in my tank, he would get the food first before all the others. His name was Red Black. He had a bright red tail and dark black body. His eyes were so cool. They were big and white.
My pet shark died last week. I was very sad and I cried a lot. He was my favourite fish in the fish tank because every time the water turned bad his tail would change colour. The tail changed to a pink and white colour. He was the strongest fish in the tank. He lived in my home for 5 years. That is why I was sad to lose him.
On the weekend of October 17, 2015 the Lambeth Lancers went to the Blue Mountains for a hockey tournament.
There were lots of teams from different cities at the tournament. We stayed In a hotel on Blue Mountain right at the ski hills . My Lambeth Lancers Atom team played four games. The first game was against Collingwood and we lost 4-0. The second game we won 5-4 against Saugeen Shores . The third game we won 4-1 against Mt. Brydges. Unfortunately, we lost in the semi-final game against Collingwood. They scored in the last minute of the game! The final score was 2-1. I really enjoyed playing with my friends on the team and seeing Blue Mountain. I can’t wait until our next tournament. Have you ever played in a weekend tournament? |
