Today we took our Science lesson outdoors! We have been learning about biodiversity, and exploring the wide variety of living organisms throughout our world. Today's lesson began with two questions: "How many different types of trees do you think there are on our school property? How can we find out?" We decided to go outside and attempt to answer those questions. Click the title of this post or the "read more" link to see what we discovered. |
In order to identify the types of trees on our yard, we had to observe some of their characteristics. We looked particularly at the leaves of each tree. Using a tree diagram from our Science books, we were able to use the characteristics of the leaves, and follow the branches of the tree diagram until we arrived at the name of each tree. |
