There are two deep gorges that cut through the campus. They have waterfalls and a man-made lake. We toured Ho Plaza, and the Arts, Engineering and Ag quads and listened to the chimes from the McGraw Tower. They had a ferris wheel set up for the occasion.
Later that night we took in the laser light show with fireworks display at Schoellkopf Field. We also drove to the North Campus to see the residences where the freshman students live. Most are modern but some, like the Mary Donlon Hall, are old and look grand from the outside. The fraternity and sorority houses looked really cool and we wanted to knock on the doors and ask if we could come in and look around.
Later that day we ate at the world famous Collegetown Bagels. It’s an icon in Ithaca. We also wandered into Lynah Rink and caught the last 15 minutes of an inter squad game of the Cornell Big Red hockey team. They were so big and fast that I thought they were playing with too many men on the ice. Hockey is big on campus. My dad says that back in his day students used to camp out all night in the frigid cold to score some tickets. I would love to see the Big Red play our own Knights. Now that would be a game!
My hope and dream is to attend Cornell...we’ll see how that plays out...I’ll let you know in 10 years' time. What are your thoughts? Do you have any hopes and dreams?
